Through the dynamic registration portal, your guests will be able to complete their registration experience ahead of their visit or on their personal devices when they arrive on-site. Doing so significantly limits the amount of time spent at the iPad kiosk and offers a fully touchless sign-in experience. This comes together to form our ZeroTouch feature.
With the flexibility of the Experience Editor, you will have the ability to customize what information is required in the registration portal. Document signing, photo capturing, and experiences based on visitor types are just a few of the pieces you will be able to include.

Setting up ZeroTouch
The ZeroTouch experience will leverage two key features in your account:
Invite/Registration email templates: Allows you to send registration links to your invited guests as well as QR codes they can scan on the iPad upon arrival.
Registration/Kiosk Experience types: Controls what information a guest needs to complete in the registration portal.
Encompassed within these features are these templates:
Registration Email Template: This is an additional email template available within our Email Template Editor
Registration Portal Link Block: This is a new block available to use in an Invite Email Template.
Registration Experience Type: When creating an experience, you will now be able to select between a Registration Experience and Kiosk Experience type. Your location will also let you choose a registration type experience in your setup.
Kiosk Experience Type - Welcome Page QR scanning: The Kiosk Experience Type allows for QR code scanning on the Welcome Page.
Email Template Editor - Registration Template, link and QR Code
To allow your invited guests to register themselves ahead of their visit, you will need to email them a link to the registration portal. After they've completed their registration, you can automatically send out a registration email which includes the QR code needed to scan on the iPad.
Email templates include blocks used solely for the registration portal. These include:
Registration Portal Link - This will be added to the Invite Email Template that you can send to your invitees. It allows your invited guests to access the registration portal from home.
Registration Email Template - This can be sent to your visitors after they finish the registration portal, whether at home or onsite.
Registration QR Code - This is included in the Registration Email Template and will be used to scan on the iPad upon arrival.
Registration Portal Link
A registration link block is available within the Invite Email Template. An invited visitor will click on this to begin their registration process before arriving on-site. To learn how your employees can send out invites, click HERE.
To add this into your invite emails, simply drag the block into the template and edit its properties such as width, alignment, background colour, and padding. To learn more about the Email Template Editor, click HERE.
Registration Email Template Type and QR Code
You will also need to configure an email that will be sent to a guest after they’ve completed their registration. This is especially crucial for invited guests as this email will contain the QR code that a guest scans on the iPad to complete their sign-in when they arrive. Scanning the QR code will automatically push their sign-in information to the guest book.
To set this up, enter the Email Template section from the left navigation bar. Then, click Create Email Template in the top-right corner. Give your new template a name and select REGISTRATION as your template type.
You can edit the components of the email as you would for any other email template. However, the most important addition to this is the Registration QR Code block which you can drag into the template where you see fit. This is what your visitor will scan on the iPad when they arrive onsite.
After the registration email is configured, you can choose which sign-in flow this template will apply to. This setting can be found in the Thank You Pages of the Registration Experience type. More details can be found in this section below: Triggering the Registration Email through the Thanks Page
Registration QR Code In & Out Privileges
By default, Registration QR codes are one-time use and can only be used for sign-in purposes. However, you can change the settings of your QR code to allow for multi-use sign-in and sign-out privileges. This means that a single QR code can be scanned multiple times during a valid invite duration.
For example, if you have an invited guest whose invite is valid from Sept 1 to Sept 3, they will be able to use the same QR code to sign-in and out during those three days.
To enable this in a location:
1. Click the Locations icon in the left navigation bar. Then, click into the location you wish to edit.
2. Click the Preferences button in the top-right corner. Then, select Invite Preferences
3. Toggle on In & Out Privileges and hit Save
This feature is location specific and must be enabled for each location you'd like to give multi-use privileges to.
Additionally, you can configure your experience to inform the guest whether they've completed a sign-in or sign-out via the QR code. To learn more, see the QR Code Token section below.
Experience Editor Changes - Registration and Kiosk Experience Type
The Registration Experience type allows you to configure the questions/prompts that your visitor sees in the registration portal. The level of customizability remains similar to the previous version of the experience editor (now called the Kiosk Experience), but it is now configured through a drag and drop system which mirrors our Email Template Editor.
To add the Registration Experience type to your account, access the Experiences section from the left navigation bar. Then, click the Create Experience button in the top-right corner. Select Registration from your experience type drop-down menu. Name your experience and click CREATE to start the editing process.
While the registration portal utilizes the Registration Experience, the Kiosk Experience is where your guest will be scanning QR codes on the iPad. See this section below for more details: Pushing the Touchless Sign-in Experience to your iPad.
The left side will now present you each page as individual blocks. Simply click and drag the page you’d like to add and drop it onto a line between two other pages in your overall Experience Editor canvas.
From there, you can select an added page to edit its properties on the left-hand side. A selected block will have a blue border around it.
These are some of the basic pages that you can add in the Registration Experience:
Identity Page: Allows you to collect name, email, company, and mobile. This is equivalent to the About You Page in the kiosk experience editor.
Branch Page: Allows you to branch off the sign-in flow, depending on the choice your visitor makes. This is equivalent to the Choice Page in the kiosk experience editor.
Camera Page: Allows your guest to upload or take a photo directly from their mobile device. Equivalent to the Picture Page.
Form Page: Allows you to ask custom questions from your guest. Equivalent to the Form page.
Signature Page: Displays a document for signature. Equivalent to the GuestSign Page.
Host Select Page: Allows your guest to choose a host. Equivalent to the Host Selection Page.
Video Page: Allows your guest to view a video. Equivalent to the Video Page.
Triggering the Registration Email through the Thanks Page
Once your guests complete a sign-in through the registration portal, you can automatically send them an email containing the QR code needed to check-in on-site. Your guest will scan this QR code directly on the iPad, which then automatically pushes the sign-in record to your guestbook. If you are not planning on pre-registering your guests and simply want them to fill out the registration portal upon entry to your site, this step is less important. For more information on inviting a guest, click HERE.
Your guest will receive the registration email after they reach the last page in the registration portal. Because of this, the email is set up to be triggered via the options for the Thanks Page in your Registration Experience. Click ‘Edit’ on your Thanks Page(s) to bring up its properties. Then, check the ‘Send registration email’ box and start typing the name of your Registration Email Template in the ‘Email Template’ section. This will automatically bring up corresponding Registration Emails in your account.
The end of your Experience can have one or several Thanks Pages depending on how many branches exist in your workflow. Make sure that this setting is on for every Thanks Page you’d wish to send the email from.
Pushing the Touchless Sign-in Experience to your iPad
Now that your Registration Experience and emails are set, you can push these changes to your iPad.
The first step is to enable QR code scanning on the Kiosk Experience that you’ll be using in your location. While the rest of your Kiosk sign-in flow can be used by guests who won’t be accessing the registration portal at all, the Welcome Page must still be used to allow guests to scan an existing QR code or generate a new one from a touchless sign-in on-site.
Your new options from the Welcome Page include:
Enable QR Code Scanner: This must be enabled so that guests can scan the QR codes generated after they’ve completed the registration portal.
Use Rear Camera: This toggles between the front and back cameras of the iPad. By default, Traction Guest will use the front camera.
Show Sign-in QR Code: This enables your non-invited guests to use the registration portal. Using their mobile device, they will scan the QR code on the iPad which will take them to the registration portal on their device’s browser. Once complete, they will see a QR code on their screen which they can scan on the iPad immediately.
QR Code Token
If you've configured your registration QR code to allow for sign-in and sign-out privileges, you can enter the token #touchless_action# into the Thank You Page message that branches off the Enable QR Code Scanner checkbox.
If the QR code is being used for sign-in, the word 'signin' will replace #touchless_action# on the iPad. If it's being used for sign-out, the word 'signout' will appear.
For example, typing 'Your #touchless_action# is complete. Thank you!' will work for both sign-in and sign-out purposes.
Once your kiosk experience settings are fully configured, the Welcome Page on your iPad will look similar to this:
Once this is complete, make sure that your location has the correct Kiosk Experience and Registration Experience selected. For additional details on location setup, click HERE.
If your iPad is connected to the internet, it will automatically take your changes after 5-10 minutes. Otherwise, use the ‘Refresh Theme’ button on the app to push the changes right away. Click HERE for more details.
Once this is live in your environment, the process will look like this for your end users/guests:
For non-registered guests:
1. Arrive on-site and scan the QR code visible on the iPad with their mobile device.
2. Complete the registration portal on their device. They will then see a new QR code.
3. Scan that second QR code on the iPad to complete the sign-in.
For pre-registered guests:
1. Before coming on-site, an employee will send an invite email to a guest containing the registration portal link.
2. The guest completes the registration before arrival and receives a QR code via email.
3. The guest arrives on-site and scans the QR code they were provided. The sign-in is now complete.
