SIE allows you to print a different badge template depending on a location or sign-in path that a visitor may go through within the kiosk or registration experience.

These changes can be used for small tweaks (eg. Display the word VISITOR or CONTRACTOR), or large changes such as printing a completely different badge template for each visitor type. For information on how to create different sign-in paths for your visitor based on their choices, check out our Choice Page knowledge article HERE.

First, you will need at least one badge template in your account. If you're not already familiar with our badge editor, check out our knowledge article HERE. After you've built a few badge templates, follow the steps below to implement these changes in your locations and experience editors.

How to Set a Location Default Badge

Location Setup Page
Each location requires a default location badge template that will print for every visitor unless you overwrite it within the experience editor. For this reason, we recommend choosing the badge template you will use for the majority of the sign-in paths within a location.

1. Click into any location, then the Setup tab.
2. Scroll down to the Badge template dropdown list and choose your template.
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and hit Save.

Experience Editor Thanks Pages
Now that your Location Default Badge is set, you must now choose which paths within your kiosk and registration experiences this will apply to. These templates are chosen within the Thank You Pages inside the experience editors.

In the Kiosk Experience, simply find the Thank You Page at the end of your sign-in path(s) and select the Print Badge checkbox. Your Location Default badge template will be automatically selected.

In the Registration Experience, open the Thanks Page at the end of your sign-in path(s) and select the Assign badge template checkbox. Your Location Default badge will automatically be selected.

How to Use Multiple Badge Templates in an Experience

It is not mandatory to use the default location badge template for every sign-in path within an experience. You can create a wide variety of badge templates that can be used for certain scenarios, such as:

  • Create a badge template that displays the word "Contractor" or "Interviewee" depending on the visit reason they indicate on a Choice Page.

  • Display a black banner or red banner depending on whether a visitor is a US Person or Foreign National (ITAR use-case).

In the Kiosk Experience, simply find the Thank You Page(s) at the end and enable the Print Badge button. Then, choose your template from the dropdown list. In the Registration Experience, find the Thanks Page(s) and click Edit. Then, toggle on the Assign badge template button and choose your template from the dropdown list.

This will replace the Location Default badge that is initially assigned.

Using these techniques can be very useful for ITAR compliant badges which are required to display whether a visitor is a US Person or Foreign National, alongside clear color differentiations.
