Technical requirements

Introduction

This is a list of technical requirements for running Planner, Display, and Visitor.

The server requirements are only relevant if you choose to host the servers yourself. If we host your server, you can disregard the server chapters.

We support Microsoft products that Microsoft still supports.

Please contact us if you need further and more in-depth technical information on each individual product or module.

Please note: All released service packs and roll-ups from Microsoft must be applied to each Microsoft product. We strongly advise customers to follow the recommendation from Microsoft on supported versions.

And to keep their Microsoft Exchange software up to date, we recommend the Office 365 solution.

Cloud IP Addresses

All of our cloud products are placed behind Load Balancers. These load balancers do not allow us to use static IP addresses, so it is not possible for us to provide you with a specific IP address or even a range you can pre-approve on your network. The only option you have, if you wish to restrict traffic, is to limit traffic based on the DNS name of your solution. For some load balancers the IP address changes very frequently and for others it changes less frequently, which means we do not know when the IP address changes, and will not be able to let you know in advance.

For our outgoing traffic from Display, we do have the option to make sure that traffic comes from a static IP address. This kind of outgoing traffic is for example when we need to integrate with an Exchange Server. If you wish to restrict incoming traffic on your network, you can limit it to 63.34.118.54.

Sign In Workspace Planner Server

IMPORTANT - Access to https://license.pronestor.com from the installation server is required. This is required for validating the license. Failing to do this will result in a server error.

Please note: the recommendation below should be read as minimum requirements and should be scaled up for larger setups.

Server - software:

Microsoft server 2012* or newer

  • Internet Information Service 7.0 or newer

  • Microsoft .net 4.8 framework or newer

  • ASP.NET framework 4.8

  • Message Queuing Service (if connected to Exchange)

  • Extended support for Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 will end on October 10, 2023

Dependencies:

  • Microsoft SQL 2016 or newer

  • Microsoft Exchange 2016 CU3 or newer

  • SMTP sending permissions

  • It is recommended that the Planner is on a dedicated server and that the SQL server is a separate server from the application server.

Server - Hardware

  • CPU min. 2.5GHZ (min. 4 CPU cores)

  • Min. 4 GB RAM (+10MB/per concurrent user)

  • Min 500 MB disk space for application files

  • Min 250 MB disk space for database files

The recommendation is only for the Sign In Workspace software (formerly Pronestor), thus not including CPU/memory for OS and Windows Services. Please follow Microsoft's recommendation on this.

We strongly recommend that you establish two environments, one for testing and one for production. When upgrading on premise installations, the test environment will be used for validating the upgrade process as well as for testing the installation and become familiar with new or changed features.

Planner Outlook add-in

• It's strongly recommended to run Outlook in cached-mode

• Microsoft Windows 7/8/10/11

• the latest version of Chrome, with the latest patches.

• Min 100 MB disk space for application files

• For Outlook 2013 Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or newer

• For Outlook 2016 Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or newer

• For Outlook 2019 Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or newer

• For O365 Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or newer Additional requirements are: In case MS Outlook and MS Skype for Business are installed on the same PC, the MS version of those should be aligned. We do not support a mismatch like ex. Outlook 2013 with Skype for Business 2016 or like.

Planner clients without the Outlook add-in

The latest version of Chrome, with the latest patches.

Display server Cloud

Regarding the network:

For cloud display sites, only the DNS name can be used as a reference. IP addresses are not static on the cloud display solution.

Display server on-premise

Server - software:

  • Internet Information Service 7.0 or newer

  • Microsoft .net 4.8 framework or newer

  • ASP.NET 4.6 framework

Dependencies:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2016 CU3 or newer/2019/Office 365 or G-Suite (formerly known as Google Apps for Business)

Server - Hardware

  • CPU min. 4GHZ (min. 4 CPU cores)

  • Min. 4 GB RAM

  • Min 500 MB disk space for application files

Display tablets

You can use the system from any web browser – like Firefox, Apple Safari, and Chrome web browser. We support Google Chrome as a browser, or our Kiosk browser, and recommend using one of those two.

IMPORTANT – we strongly recommend using professional hardware/digital signs that are made to be used for 24/7 usage, ex. Philips 10BDL4551T or IAdea XDS-1078 due to security reasons. These devices also support POE, scheduled power on/off (only Philips), and MDM.

We recommend and support professional devices for our displays like:

When using Android devices, please note that version 4.4 and up is supported. Older versions of Android are not supported.

The default designs are validated to be used with the following devices:

  • Samsung Tab

  • 3

  • 4

  • A

  • Philips Display

  • 10BDL3051T

  • 10BDL4151T

  • 10BDL4551T

  • Qbic Td

  • 1050

  • 1060

  • 1070

  • IAdea

  • XDS-1078

  • XDS-1088

  • WRP-1000

Display tablet network connections

You can use both wired and wireless network connections. Wired connections provide the most stable connections.

We recommend that tablets are isolated on their own network segment and in the case of a wireless network on their own SSID, so network access can be easily controlled centrally.

If a DHCP protocol is used to assign IP addresses, the server should reserve the addresses for the tablets so IP addresses don't change. Dynamic IP addresses have been known to cause issues for Display tablets in some network environments.

For the Meeting activity and Room availability overviews

Sign In Workspace recommends using a Smart TV with an updated browser and preferably a demo mode. Brands with such technical capabilities are among others LG and Samsung. LG carries many models which have these capabilities, we can recommend the LG 49 UN7100 (49 inches) and the LG 75 UN71(75 inches).

For 24" Display for the Visitor Self-registration

IAdea XDS-2288

Philips 24BDL4151T

Visitor Print server

We strongly recommend that the Visitor PrintAgents are installed on a dedicated printing server with access to the internet.

Else, the Visitor PrintAgents have to be installed on a dedicated PC or Laptop that is on the network and not being moved around the organization.

We recommend that all printers are on the network and hooked up to the server.

It's also possible to install the printer locally to a laptop, but then the VisitorAgent also needs to be installed on that laptop
