This article walks through troubleshooting steps to try if your iPad is set to stay awake all the time but is going to sleep anyway.
iPad Settings
Make sure auto-lock is set to never
IPads have a built-in setting called Auto-Lock which is designed to keep you screen from falling asleep.
On the iPad, open the Settings app. Then, tap on Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock > Never
Enable Mirror Display Auto-Lock in Guided Access Mode
If you would like more information on setting up Guided Access Mode, check out THIS Article.
Guided Access has a default setting that will override the Auto-Lock setting and put the iPad to sleep after 20 minutes of inactivity. In order to use the Auto-Lock setting, you will need to enable Mirror Display Auto-Lock.
The pathway for this setting is: Settings > General > Mirror Display Auto-Lock > On
iPad Charging setup
It is possible that the charging block and cable can be insufficient to keep the iPad charged and awake throughout the day. Some useful questions to ask are:
Is the iPad plugged in with the charging cable and block that came with the iPad? If not, continue below.
Is the block rated to output at least 12W? If it is a 5W block, like the ones that come with an iPhone, it will not be able to properly change an iPad. The iPad will need to be equipped with a block that is at least 12 W.
Is the cable longer than a few feet? The amount of power that makes it to the iPad is always less than the amount that left the wall. If you have a long cable connected, the amount of power that makes it to the iPad may not be enough to charge the iPad. In this case, you will need to try a shorter cable (The one that came with the iPad for example) or a more powerful charging block.
