Emergency Notification SMS & Messages

Sign In App's emergency notification system allows you to instantly alert everyone on-site when an emergency occurs. Whether it's a fire evacuation, severe weather event, or active threat, you can send SMS messages and push notifications directly to signed-in visitors and staff, ensuring critical safety information reaches people in real time.

With Unlimited SMS, emergency alerts are sent via text message to anyone currently signed in at your site(s), regardless of whether they have the companion app installed. Combined with push notifications, customisable message types, and multi-language support, this gives you a reliable, multi-channel way to communicate during high-pressure situations without worrying about message limits or token balances.

Please Note: Our Unlimited SMS notifications feature is contained in various subscription types. You can check if you have this included by heading to Manage > SMS notifications within the portal. SMS Notifications

For all customers with Unlimited SMS in their subscription tier (or if you have the

Unlimited SMS add-on), the option to enable evacuation SMS messages will be displayed on the Manage > Site >Evacuations page.

When enabled for the site, all signed-in visitors and group members will receive the notification if they have a telephone number but no Companion app connection.


Evacuation messages are split into three tiers, each offering increasing levels of customisation.

1. Core Tier

You will have availability to send a default message during an evacuation.

• Evacuation notifications can be sent from Portal, Kiosk, iPad & Companion app

• No choice of message type

• Default message: "An evacuation is in progress at [Site name]. Please report to your evacuation point."

2. Enhanced Tier

Enhanced tier customers can choose which emergency message to send.

• Evacuation notifications can be sent from Portal, Kiosk, iPad & Companion app

• Choice of available message types

• Admin configuration for available messages and order of messages

A portal administrator can enable, disable, and re-order messages from the available list. To configure this, head to Manage > Site > Evacuation where you can toggle available messages on or off, as well as re-order messages.

If you have 'Unlimited SMS', you can also tick the box to send SMS alerts to people without the companion app, please note that a valid phone number is required on a persons member profile for this:

Message Selection During Evacuation

Once configured, the message selection appears after selecting the Notify button during an evacuation.

Important: Only one notification can be sent during an evacuation. Once any participant has sent a message, it cannot be sent again by them or any additional participants.

3. Pro Tier

Pro tier subscriptions include the same admin functions as Enhanced (enable, disable, re-order messages) but also allow you to add custom messages to the list.

• Choice of available message types and option to add custom messages

• Admin configuration for available messages and order of messages

To create a custom message, head to Manage > Site > Evacuation and click Add custom message to add a custom notification.

Don't forget to click Save once done. Once configured, the message selection including any custom messages, appears after selecting the Notify button during an evacuation.
