This article explains how to add languages to your Registration and Kiosk experiences so visitors can complete them in their preferred language. Translations of your content are generated by AI and can be reviewed and edited before saving.
Everything the visitor reads is translated. That includes the content you wrote yourself, such as page messages, questions, answer options and buttons, and the built-in text that comes with the app, such as standard field labels, loading messages and error messages.
What your visitors see
Once an experience has more than one language, a language picker appears for visitors. Experiences with only one language look exactly as they do today.
In the Registration Portal, a clickable flag menu appears in the top-right corner.
In the Kiosk Experience on the iPad, the language button appears in the top corner of the Welcome Page.
They will then proceed through the experience with their chosen selection.
Adding a Language to a Kiosk Experience
To apply this to a Kiosk Experience, create a new or open an existing Kiosk Experience in the portal.
Configure your Experience in the base language you're choosing: Write all the prompts as you would normally for your main language. The translations will be based on all the fields already present in your experience, so ensure these are correct.
Open the Translations settings: Click the translate icon in the top-right of the editor toolbar. Its tooltip reads Translations.
3. Select a Base Language: This will be the main language that the rest of your translations are based on and should match the language you've written your Kiosk Experience in.
4. Select your Supported Languages: Choose from the dropdown of languages that you'd like to present as options to your visitors. You can choose as many from the list as you need.
5. Generate the translations: Click Generate Translations, choose Generate missing translations or Regenerate all translations, then click Confirm. The first time you translate an experience, either option gives the same result.
Generate Missing Translations will translate new and updated content only. Existing translations are preserved.
Regenerate All Translations will delete all existing translations and generate fresh translations for all content. This cannot be undone.
For more information on the difference between the two, check out the Keeping Translations Up To Date section below.
When generation finishes, a progress count appears for each language, such as 24 / 24, showing how much of your content is translated. Click Close to proceed.
6. Review The Wording: To review the translations for each page, click the A icon in the top-right corner of each page. You can review/edit for each language you have selected.
You will see each piece of text in your base language, with the translation underneath, ready to edit. Correct anything that needs it, then click Save in that window. Repeat for each page you want to check.
Reviewing is most useful for your company name, product names, and terms specific to your industry or site.
6. Save the Experience
Save the experience as you normally would. Translations are not live until you do. After saving, your language will appear as a dropdown option on the Kiosk.
Adding a Language to a Registration Experience
To apply this to a Registration Experience, create a new Registration Experience or open an existing one in the portal.
Configure your Experience in the base language you're choosing: Write all the pages as you normally would for your main language. The translations will be based on all the fields already in your experience, so make sure these are correct.
Open the Translations settings: In the editor's sidebar, click the Settings tab
Select a Base Language: This is the main language that the rest of your translations are based on. It should match the language you've written your Registration Experience in.
Select your Supported Languages: Click the language dropdown and choose the languages you'd like to offer your visitors. You can type to search the list, and you can choose as many as you need. Your base language is always included and can't be removed.
Generate the translations: Click Generate translations at the bottom of the Translations section. Choose Generate missing translations or Regenerate all translations, then click Confirm. The first time you translate an experience, either option gives the same result.
For more information on the difference between the two, see the Keeping translations up to date section below.
When generation finishes, a progress bar appears in the Translations section for each language, with a count such as 24 / 24 showing how much of your content is translated.
Review the wording: Click a page in the editor to open its settings panel, then click View Translations at the bottom of the panel. You can review and edit the wording for each language you've selected.
You will see each piece of text in your base language, with the translation underneath, ready to edit. Correct anything that needs it, then click Save in that window. Repeat for each page you want to check.
Reviewing is most useful for your company name, product names, and terms specific to your industry or site.
Save the Experience: Save the experience as you normally would. Translations are not live until you do. After saving, your languages appear in the flag menu in the top-right corner of the registration page.
Keeping Translations Up To Date
When you edit your content later, the matching translations become outdated. The editor marks them, and the progress count for each language shows how many need refreshing. Click Generate Translations in either the Kiosk or Registration Portal again and choose one of the two options.
Generate missing translations translates new content, and refreshes translations whose original text you have changed. Everything else is left alone.
Your edits are kept as long as you haven't changed the original text they translate.
Use it when you have added a question, reworded a message, or added a new language.
Regenerate all translations deletes every existing translation and translates all of your content again from scratch.
Your edits are replaced. Any wording you corrected by hand is lost.
Use it when you have rewritten most of the experience and want a clean start.
Regenerating replaces hand-corrected wording
If someone on your team has corrected translations, use Generate missing translations. Choose Regenerate all translations only if you are happy to review the wording again afterwards.
Changing the base language
If your content was written in one language and you want to switch the base to another, choose the new language under Base language. The ai feature will translate your current content into the new base language, and you review the suggested wording before it is applied.
Other languages are cleared
Changing the base language removes the translations for your other supported languages. Once the new base is applied, click Generate Translations to create them again.
